Highway 280 at the Good Ol Boys
Highway 280 was formed in 2000 by Clifford Moncus and Billy Turner who were getting together informally to do a little pickin' at Clifford's printing shop in Dadeville Alabama with a few other local bluegrass musicians. Early in 2001, Billy asked Gwen Taunton to bring his 5-string and "jam" with the group one night during one of their practice sessions, and he has been hangin' around ever since. Then in May of 2005, after several personnel changes in the group during the year, Marvin Walters joined the group as the new bass player. Due to problems that developed with his right hand, Gwen now plays fiddle with the group, so now Highway 280 has a number of friends that fill in on banjo (Robert Montgomery from Moulton Al., Robert Earl Lowery from Phenix City Al., etc.).

What makes Highway special is that they love to play music - bluegrass music. If your business, organization or church needs a band for a special occasion, please give us a call, we would love to hear from you. Please respect Highway 280's wish to play only at events where alcohol is not being served.

The LORD will save me, and we will sing with stringed instruments all the days of our lives in the temple of the LORD, Isaiah 38:20 (NIV).
